"I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, Who loved me and gave Himself for me." - Galatians 2:20

* FOOD FOR THOUGHT: A THANKSGIVING PRAYER

 • May my life overflow with Your fruit.
• May I hunger for righteousness.
• May I thirst for living water.
• May I nourish my soul with Your Word.
• May my mind crave purity.
 • May I purge myself of pride and ingratitude.
• May I be satisfied with the hope I have in Christ.
• May I not choke on my selfish desires.
• May my heart be sustained by Your love.
 • May I not quench Your Spirit, but rather consume Your presence.
• May I be filled with the power of the Holy Spirit.
• May I be stuffed with the joy of the Lord.
• May my tongue testify to the sweetness of Your grace and forgiveness.
 • May I not waste the gifts You give me.
• May I feast on Your goodness.
• May I delight in the fellowship of believers.
• May my soul devour the wisdom and truth of Your Word.
• May I not swallow the enemy's lies.
• May I savor my relationship with You, Lord.
• May I resist spiritual milk and feed on spiritual meat.
• May my appetite for self-discipline increase.
• May I starve my flesh from the world's smorgasbord of sin.
 • May I give You my first fruits and not my leftovers.
 • May I continue to taste and see that the Lord is good.
• May I have a heart for the harvest.

  1. This prayer ministered, encouraged, and challenged my heart. Your verb choices stood out to me, Hester. Hunger, nourish, purge, stuff -- powerful! I am printing this and using it during my sit-down time with Lord this season (and beyond). Thank you, friend. God bless you.

  3. From Dotti:

"Hester ~ this is a wonderful prayer! Thank you so much for writing it and sharing it with us. This year was not about food for us - my husband had head/neck cancer surgery in January this year and is recovering, but he cannot swallow anything and has a permanent feeding tube. So, we purposefully, radically changed our traditions for Thanksgiving and Christmas - taking the focus on food out of it. Your prayer is a beautiful illustration of what we are trying to focus on now! God bless you! ~Dotti"

    1. Dotti,

You are so sweet to send me such an encouraging email. Thank you so very much for taking the time to share your heart with me. The story of your husband has touched me and you really blessed me by sharing this with me. Thank you. I pray for the Lord to strengthen you as you persevere through this time of illness. May He bless you both as you pursue Him and seek to have a heart like His.

      Love, Hester
